What
is Lampwork Glass Beads?
Making
this glass beads is called lampwork
because the
early glass bead makers in Venice used oil lamps as their heat source
for melting the glass. Today, it's more common to use torches, such as
a propane gas that I use to melt glass rods and wind it
around on a steel mandrel.
Using
gravity, variety of tools, colours, forms and techniques, the designs
are endless...it's a small treasure which is wearable!
